3.5 stars!

The second book in the Montgomery Brothers series, this is an emotional second-chance romance between childhood sweethearts that really brings the feels.

Harrison and Laney grew up together. The best of friends since kindergarten, they fell in love and were each other’s whole worlds, until the death of Harrison’s father upended his life, and he had to let her go. Now, it’s five years later and Laney is marrying somebody else. But when her mother falls ill and she returns home to care for her, she and Harrison will come face to face for the first time since their heartbreaking split.

The feels are there from the very beginning with these two. It’s obvious there is still love there, and so much hurt and confusion over what went down between them in the past. It’s a struggle for them to get to a point where they can even talk about it, but once those walls start to come down, everything starts to change.

Of course, Laney has a fiancé, which means they are both keeping their distance, and while there is no physical cheating, the feels are definitely there. Laney has quite the emotional journey, battling between the pain she has put behind her and the life she has built for herself, and opening up about a dark time in her life and trusting where her heart truly lies. My heart hurt for her and all that she had been through, and I thought her story was really well written.

And there is light at the end of that dark tunnel, as these two come back together in the swooniest, most beautiful romance. They are best friends and soulmates, and there’s no question that they belong together, and that first kiss had me grinning like a loon! Seeing them reconnect, open up to each other, and fall back into a life together was so sweet.

There’s lots of cute, romantic moments, lots of emotion and lots of swoon, and I really enjoyed seeing Harrison and Laney get their second chance. This is a really sweet read.

I’m looking forward to the third and final book in the series featuring youngest Montgomery brother, Jack.

This is a gorgeous read – 3.5 stars.
