How often do second chances come along in your life?
A second chance to right a wrong, or reverse a bad decision you regretted making?
What about a second chance to get your girl back—along with a marriage that was stolen from you by the man who walked your bride down the aisle?

Would you go for it, even knowing you might fail?

Because going for it means risking your heart on the success of an arrangement she thinks is temporary …
… and failure means sacrificing your soul if she decides to walk away when the arrangement is over.

For David Lowe, the answer is as complicated as it is simple:
He has no choice, because second chances don’t come around very often.

I was blown away by the first book in this duet, The Moment You Know, and dove straight into this book, desperate to see what was going to happen. After the emotional tumult of the first book, this is a calmer continuation of David and Paige’s story that still has drama and challenges to overcome, but felt more like a gloriously extended epilogue, and I loved seeing these two finally get their HEA.

This book is not a standalone, please don’t try to read it as one. Check out the emotional triggers because this duet deals with sensitive subject matter, and beware spoilers below for book, #1, The Moment You Know.

Five years after their divorce, David and Paige are back in each other’s lives and are ‘dating’ (of a sort). Paige is no longer the girl that David once knew. She’s been through hell and has pulled herself through, emerging as a stronger, more confident woman, and the two of them are enjoying getting to know each other once again… in all the ways.

“The thought of another man experience what I was experiencing what I was experiencing with you was unfathomable to me.”

Holy damn, this book is hot. These two are completely open and honest about everything, and they are exploring absolutely everything together. They hold nothing back, continuing Paige’s journey of healing, and their banter, teasing, heartfelt conversations and physical intimacy is just amazing.

“I’ve always loved you… Even the five years we were divorced, I loved you.”

Their reunion is not without challenges, but they are both better equipped to deal with them now, so they face it all head-on and work through it sensibly, supporting each other through it all, and I loved seeing them so strong. D.E. Daniel is an author who shows rather than tells, so there’s lots of detail, and we’re up close and personal with everything that happens in the book, and I loved being so immersed in the story.

David, Paige and little Jacob completely owned my heart throughout this duet. I love them as characters, I love their journey, and I loved that we got such a beautifully heartfelt story for them. There’s an epilogue which provides wonderful closure, and I finished this book feeling happy and so satisfied at how it all played out.

Another beautiful read, I loved this one.

Meet D.E. Daniel

Born and raised in Washington state, I spent much of my time reading and writing. I became hooked on romance novels as a young teenager after reading Forever, by Judy Blume, and from there I moved on to V.C. Andrews, Victoria Holt, Johanna Lindsey, Judith McNaught, Jackie Collins, Sandra Brown … you get the picture. I wrote dozens of short stories, along with my first ‘novel’, when I was in high school, and while I’m sure none of them were very good, the process of writing lit a fire in my soul.

After graduating from college and getting married, my military husband and I spent the next twenty-five years moving around the country, living in six different states (twice in Alaska), and raising two children, along with a menagerie of pets. Through it all, I kept reading and writing, until I had a dozen, half-finished contemporary romance novels on my laptop, and a vague dream of having one of them published someday.

Now currently settled in Michigan with my retired husband, I’m writing full-time in my downstairs bunker, working on finishing those novels. And when I’m not writing, I’m thinking about what I’m going to write … because as Gloria Steinem said, “Writing is the only thing that when I do it, I don’t feel like I should be doing something else.”

So, buckle up, because I’m just getting started …
