A standalone age-gap, dad’s best friend’s hockey romance.
There’s no one more off limits than my best friend’s daughter.
Peggy Aurora Hammerstein. The Toronto Terror’s unofficial team princess. I would never do anything to mess with our team dynamics this late into the hockey season, but seeing her work in the front office changed something for me.
I see her as she is now: a powerful woman with ambition for miles.
When I hold her against me, she fits perfectly.
Her little flirts and taunts push my buttons, if she doesn’t stop–my control just might break.
But I can never cross that line. I can never know what it could be to call her mine.
I’ve never wanted anyone more than Aurora and no one can ever know.
*This is Hollis Hendrix’s standalone novel. If you want to meet Hollis before you read this book, check out If You Hate Me, Rix and Tristan’s story.

4.5 stars!
We dive back in the world of the Toronto Terror Hockey Team for Hollis and Aurora’s lover story with If You Want Me. It is a wonderful mash-up of multiple tropes, all of which I love. This age gap, father’s best friend, forbidden sports romance brings all the heart, humor and heat we love from this author and gives us another fantastic book in the series.
Aurora, also known as Hammer to her friends and Peggy to her father Roman, is finishing up school and hoping to get a job as a public-relations-assistant with the hockey league. She’s known Hollis since he became Roman’s best friend seven years ago when he joined the team. Though she’s had an innocent crush on him, Hollis has never looked at her as more than his best friend’s daughter, at least not until he found her adult toy in his apartment. Now, he can’t seem to ignore his attraction no matter how hard he tries.
I love a good forbidden romance and a father’s best friend is one of the most forbidden and works well for an age gap romance, too. The sneaking around makes everything heightened and the sexual tension skyrockets each time Aurora tries to get him to give in to his feelings when he works so hard on keeping his hands to himself. Their connection is palpable and I was excited for them to finally make a real move.
“I didn’t know what I was missing until you.”
These two light the pages on fire but it doesn’t last long and their relationship is tested. It’s the right amount of angst and it is understandable why hearts are broken. I thought it was well done and believable.
Like the previous book, it takes a little bit to get these two back to the place they were and I love their journey. It’s super sweet and swoony, and a little corny at times but in the best way. These two are just so good together despite being in different places in their lives. They totally understand each other and will do anything to make it work.
“Loving you out loud feels so much better.”
I loved seeing more of the Toronto Terror gang. Rix and Tristan did the forbidden thing and they knew the difficulties that come along with pursing the relationship and I loved that they had Hollis and Aurora’s backs when thye needed thme most. The other secondary characters were wonderful as well. Roman is such a great dad and I want to see him find someone special. And give me more Hemi and Dallas! I can’t wait for this series to continue.
