Zara
The day I picked out my wedding dress was the day I found out my fiancé was cheating on me.
After that, I needed an escape.
A distraction to take my mind off what a mess my life was.
It was supposed to be a one-night thing.
Then it turned into more.
We knew going in that it was for two weeks.
Then, two pink lines changed everything.
Gabriel
I thought I had the perfect life.
I had an amazing son, and I was running the family bar.
But all that changed the day she walked in.
She was gorgeous and funny all wrapped into one.
It was temporary, we both knew that.
She’s a city girl. I’m a cowboy.
But I fell in love with her and let her go all at the same time.
Now she’s back and pregnant with my baby.
It’s time to show her she was meant for me.

The fourth book in the Meant For series, this is another Natasha Madison crossover as Zara (from the Hockey dynasty – daughter of Victor and Zoe) and Gabriel (from the Southern dynasty – son of Ethan and Emily) get together. It’s a small-town, no-strings, surprise pregnancy romance, and I enjoyed this one.
Zara has just picked out her wedding dress when she discovers that her fiancé is cheating on her. More angry than heartbroken, she decides she needs to get away for a little while, so she heads south to her sister-in-law’s home town (and by extension, to her family) for some time away. It’s on her first night in town where she meets a hot bartender and they spend a steamy night together. It’s not until later that she realises that her one night stand is actually Gabriel, cousin to her sister-in-law, and family friend through all kinds of connections. While she’s determined to stay away from the gorgeous cowboy, Gabriel is all alpha and he has decided that Zara is his while she’s in town. So begins the banter, back and forth, and so, so, so much sex! These two are insatiable and, despite Zara’s best of intentions, completely wild for each other.
“I pinky swear I will not tell a soul, and I will not do your cousin again.” Even saying the words, I know that it might be a lie. But I’m committed to standing by my word. As long as he doesn’t kiss me, or touch me, or look in my direction, I think I’ll be fine.
Zara’s sassy independence and Gabriel’s alphaness and refusal to take no for an answer create a fun and banter-filled dynamic. They’re both a bit over the top with it, but it’s playful, and I enjoyed their back and forth. The more they are together, the more their no-strings arrangement becomes anything but, and by the time Zara has to return home, they are well and truly entrenched in each other’s hearts. The distance is a problem, as is their stubborn refusal to address their feelings and what they want, but a positive pregnancy test will force them to confront their feelings once and for all.
“Hey, Sweetheart,” he whispers softly, looking into my eyes, “did you miss me?”
This is a fun read, and seriously steamy. Gabriel is so gorgeous – reminiscent of a Kristen Ashley alpha with his stubbornness, possessiveness, mad bedroom skills and filthy mouth, and I loved how invested he was in the two of them from the very beginning. Their connection is undeniable, and the sexy time is off the charts… possibly even bordering on too much?. Yes, I just questioned that! They do it anywhere and everywhere, whenever they possibly can, and we see it all! Showing us just how mad for each other they are.
I loved these two together, but I did wish they had talked more. While I got it in the beginning, their stubborn refusal to talk to each other about all of the serious life decisions that they should have been talking about became frustrating and didn’t feel believable considering what they were facing. But it’s the journey, and I was happy to see them come through it and find their happy ever after.
There’s lots of interaction with the hockey crew and the Southern crew, and I enjoyed seeing so many of these characters again, though I gave up trying to remember who was who because there’s just so many of them! Ethan is a definite fave though, so it was an extra treat to see him as such an amazing father to Gabriel.
The books ends well, with an epilogue that left me smiling huge, and I enjoyed this story.
3.5 stars.

About the Author
When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It’s a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…
