Audio Review: Wild Eyes (Rose Hill, #2) by Elsie Silver

Blurb

A rugged mountain town seemed like the perfect escape from a life in shambles. But on day one I ran full tilt into the world’s hottest single dad and now all my plans are ruined.

As a chart-topping country singer with a recent streak of bad press it’s hard to find any peace. But I find it in Rose Hill. With a little boy and a little girl who steal my heart just as thoroughly as their dad.

Weston Belmont.

The man is a shameless flirt. He oozes confidence and masculinity in a way that’s downright distracting. And in bed? He’s addictive.

Everything with him is wild and impulsive and I’m desperate to regain some control.

But no one has supported me like West does. And no one has ever made me feel as loved as he does either.

So, while my brain says settling down with a small-town horse trainer is impossible… my heart says I’m right where I belong.

Still, my life as a celebrity haunts me. It has the power to pull us apart.

I can see in his eyes that wants me to stay. And I want that too.

But I know better than anyone that we don’t always get what we want.

5 stars!

Oh, what a gorgeous read! A small town, celebrity/single dad romance that is sweet, emotional and wildly sexy. I fell madly in love with these characters, and felt everything right along with them, and I loved their story!

Skylar Stone is a hugely successful pop star, and after being controlled by her agent and manager father for her entire life, she is desperate to get away and do something for herself. She travels to the small town of Rose Hill in Canada to work with reclusive producer, Ford Grant (hero from book #1), but his studio is not quite ready for her, so she ends up moving into the bunkhouse of Ford’s best friend and brother-in-law, Weston.

Weston is a divorced dad of two adorable kids, who rescues and trains horses for a living (could he honestly be a better set up for a romantic hero? *swoon*). He’s fun and flirtatious, and he and Skylar share an instant connection that is full of chemistry and has the sexual tension brewing right away.

The banter and flirting in this book is next level. I honestly lapped up every moment of these two together as they tease, laugh and flirt. They talk about real things, they open up to each other in a way that they don’t with other people, and they find a true connection. They make a half-hearted effort to keep their distance, because Skylar is only in town for a little while, but their attraction is irresistible, and they fall into a relationship which is sweet, easy, functional, and blisteringly hot.

OMG, I am madly in love with Weston Belmont. The man is just everything. He’s smart, funny, laid back, caring, thoughtful, sweet, kind, he has a wicked sense of humour and is gorgeous with his kids, and damn, is he swoony! And holy hotness, the man is filthy! The things coming out of his mouth… wow. He’s sweet and beautifully protective over Skylar, and I loved everything about him.

More than just the love story, Skylar’s personal journey is so beautifully written as she takes a step back from her life, figures out what she wants and takes charge. She’s been treated so badly, but she is fierce, and I loved watching her embrace the peace and simplicity of her new life, find her fire and claim her life back.

In the pines by, the water
In the arms of a lover
Little hands with big hearts find me
And I find peace

Weston’s kids, Emmy and Ollie are just adorable. Funny, sweet and real, their relationship with their dad, and the special bonds they form with Skylar are beautiful, and they add so much to the story, bringing lightness and heart whenever they appear.

There is external drama for Sky and Weston to deal with, and though they both know what they want, they do have some hurdles to get it. The emotion is beautifully written, and I loved watching these two figure out and get the happy ending that I so wanted for them.

This is a beautiful read, and I loved it so much.

5 stars!

I listened to this as an audiobook, narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton, and I love them both so much. They do a great job with this one – and bonus that Skylar’s songs are actually performed for real. I definitely recommend listening to this one.
