I LOVE THIS BOOK! So, so good!
This was such a great read! I loved the first book in this series – The Deal – and was so happy that this book was just as good! Smart, funny and romantic, and so entertaining, I absolutely loved it!
John Logan is the manwhoring best friend of Garrett from the first book. He’s confident and cocky, but his carefree bravado is hiding his secret emotional turmoil – firstly that he believes himself to be in love with his best friend’s girl, and secondly that he is facing a dead-end future that he doesn’t want, leaving him unable to pursue his dreams of playing professional hockey after college.
Grace is a freshman and an absolute sweetheart. Smart and funny, she is adorably shy and has a tendency to babble when she gets nervous. She is rooming with her best friend from high school, who has a tendency to walk all over her, but she is aching to branch out, meet new people and really experience life.
Logan’s reputation as a manwhore is well known across campus, and of course Grace knows who he is. And when they meet unexpectedly, they are both surprised by the natural friendship that develops between them. They enjoy each other’s company and have fun together, and beneath that, there is an underlying chemistry which neither of them can ignore.
He lightly strokes my cheekbone and I have to stop myself from purring like an affection-starved cat. “What are you doing?” I whisper.
“Well, you were looking at me like you wanted me to kiss you.” His blue eyes become heavy-lidded. “So I was thinking I might do that.”
There is a genuine affection between them, and though romantically things between them may be a tad unconventional to begin with, I loved the way it all progressed (Logan’s moment where he comes to Grace’s rescue from bitchy college girls actually had me squeeing out loud). But Logan is confused by his feelings and ends up making a big mistake which ruins everything and leaves Grace devastated.
Summer break proves to be an eye opener for both of them. Grace has worked hard to move on and returns to school tougher and stronger and determined to make a fresh start. But Logan has been unable to forget Grace, and he comes back to school determined to win her back.
“I fucked up, but I promise I’ll make it up to you. I don’t want anyone else. All I want is another chance.”
Logan’s commitment to Grace is so gorgeous! She is understandably angry and distrustful of him, and she puts him through the wringer making him prove himself, and I love the way Logan shows that he’s more than up for the challenge, putting himself out there and doing everything he can to win back her trust – in the way only Logan can.
“I like you, Grace.”
“Why?” I challenge. “Why do you like me?”
“Because…” He drags s hand through his dark hair. “You’re fun to be around. You’re smart. Sweet. You make me laugh. Oh, and just the sight of you gets me hard.”
This is such a fun read! Logan and Grace’s romance is funny, sexy and gorgeously romantic. Their dynamic is fantastic and I loved watching their story unfold. And when they finally get on the same page, OMG, the romance is gorgeous!
“I need you. I can’t stand the thought of being without you.” He releases a shaky breath. “You’re the last person I think about before I go to sleep, and the first person I think about when I open my eyes in the morning. You’re it for me, baby.”
And I love the way that their friends became such a big part of the story. Of course I loved catching up with Garrett and Hannah, and seeing Dean and Tucker again, but the surprising scene stealer for me was Morris – he’s freaking hilarious, and his bromance with Logan was sensational!
“I wish I was gay,” he says ruefully.
A snicker pops out. “Uh-huh. Go on. I’m willing to follow you down this rabbit hole and see where it leads.”
“Seriously, Gretch, I love him. I have a boner for him.” Morris sighs. “If I’d known he existed, I wouldn’t have asked you out in the first place.”
“Gee, thanks.”
“Oh, shut up. You’re awesome, and I’d tap that in a second. But I can’t compete with this guy. He’s operating on a whole other level when it comes to you.”
There is some drama, but it doesn’t overwhelm the story, and it’s all wrapped up beautifully with a happy ending, and even an epilogue!
I loved this book. The characters are all incredible, the dynamics are fantastic, and the mix of humour and sexy romance set against the college life is so entertaining. I can’t wait to get my hands on more from this series.
